Family Members Accused Of Stealing From Lottery Winner
Three men, two of whom are his own relatives, have been arrested for the crime.
The three men, a father and son and a family friend, are all the talk On Oregon Avenue where they live in East Haven.
“My father told me this morning so the whole neighborhood knows,” said resident Steve Estep.
What they know is that Raffael Iuliano, his 18-year old son, and Joseph Bernardo, a longtime neighbor, are accused of stealing a million dollars in lottery winnings from Iuliano’s father.
The victim won the jackpot in 1986 and investigators said he kept the money in a safe in his home in North Branford.
Last month, it was discovered missing and police said several family members suspected the Iuliano’s might be involved.
“They were making rather large purchases and spending money on extravagant things that seemed out of the ordinary and raised red flags,” said Lt. David D’Ancicco of the North Branford Police Department.
Those large purchases included cars, ATV’s, and vacation and in fact the father and son had just returned from a cruise and Bernardo from Disney World when they were arrested over the weekend.
“Ultimately we were able to recover approximately $200,000 of the funds that were stolen from sources directly involved with the people who were arrested,” said Lt. David D’Ancicco.

That love formula is just as ugly as the Bethe-Bloch formula.
PET work by radioactive decay of an nuclei that shoots out antimatter, which annihilates nearby matter creating gamma rays, producing some kickass images.
How much did he win the first time?
jesus christ! try filming him again! show how he wins 2X more. see if we can get him to fall on his knees.
I worked as a CT design engineer for several years, specifically designing applications for cardiac imaging. Cardiac CT exams are one of the highest radiation dose exams a patient may typically receive. A cardiac CT exam can be upwards of 10-15 mSv of dose and involves an iodine-based contrast agent that can be toxic to patients with poor kidney function. New cardiac CT techniques have successfully reduced radiation dose to 1-3 mSv ranges. Background radiation levels in Denver are ~3 mSv per year due to the naturally occurring radiation in the mountains there. If you’re 50 years old and have a family history of heart disease or other risk factors and your doctor thinks it’s a good idea, it’s probably worth $500 even if the test slightly elevates your risk of cancer. Currently, most Americans first realize they have heart disease when they have their first heart attack.Lastly, when was the last time you heard of someone having “exploratory” surgery? CT machines definitely have a valuable role to play in modern medicine, but as with any medical treatment or test, doctors need to intelligently apply the tools available for each patient’s situation.
Bad title, if the doctor says you need one (ie suspicion of some disease), get one. However, as a “healthy adult” there is no reason to get one, just as there is no reason to get an old school x-ray if you don’t have any symptoms (ie pain).
YOUR COMMENT IS FREAKING ME OUT!
Obviously photoshopped…
It’s a set-up/cynical
did he say “please don’t do this” at the end? I’d be jumping up and clicking my heals
He wins twice. The most I ever win is another ticket which always loses. Buried cause I’m a sore loser.
He died of a heart attack minutes later
really reminds me of the formula in john green’s “an abundance of katherines”
