Cheerleader Teen Victoria Lindsay Suffers Beating For Internet
Lindsay, a student at Mulberry High School in Lakeland, Florida, was attacked by the girls in retaliation for comments Lindsay made on MySpace. The girls then said they would videotape the beating of Victoria Lindsay and post it on YouTube.
Victoria Lindsay, 16 years old teen cheerleader, was having problems at home after having a fight with her mother and was staying with a friend, Mercades Nichols, in Lakeland.
On March 30 about 8:30 p.m., the victim arrived at Nichols’ house and was greeted by Nichols and another girl. Lindsay went into the bedroom where she was staying, and a third girl, April Cooper, 14, began to insult and threaten her, then hit her in the face several times and slammed her head into a wall, which knocked her unconscious.
When Lindsay awoke, she was on the living room couch surrounded by six girls who took turns punching and kicking her while the beating was video taped. Lindsay told investigators that the six blocked the door, held her down and beat her for a half-hour. Her left ear and eye were injured during the ambush, authorities said.
After the attack, three girls forced Lindsay into a car and drove her to another location, where they threatened that if she told, the next fight would be worse.
Nichols’ mother Christina Garcia went onto NBC’s Today Show and said she was in disgust after how her daughter handled the situation. Garcia said Nichols should have called the police immediately.
Eight teenagers were arrested Wednesday on charges of felony battery and false imprisonment.
They are Nichols, Cooper, Brittni Hardcastle, 17, Kayla Hassell, 15, Brittany Mayes, 17, Cara Murphy, 16, Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18.
Mayes, Hardcastle and Nichols also were arrested on charges of felony kidnapping for forcing the victim into the car and driving her to another location.

there’s footage of the girl in the lower left actually smiling and stifling a laugh in court…charming.
He was saying that she’s been named after a luxury car, and to add insult to the injury, the name was misspelled.I’m saying that it’s the other way around, the car is named after a girl, and it’s normal girl name in some cultures.Mercades is just a variant of Mercedes, not a spelling error.
I still can’t believe they all got away with murder. Sure, he may have died as a result of sickle cell, however, if he HADN’T been beaten, it wouldn’t have killed him! There is NO reason to beat ANYONE for 30 minutes! They got away with murder and that’s a damn shame.
myspace says the last time you logged in. Whether you use a proxy or not.
But it’s society.. society is to blame!
I do believe that him failing miserably as a parent was simply a subset of him failing miserably as a human being.
So prison sucks. Big deal. Glorifying that fact isn’t all that convincing, I agree, but it’s no reason NOT to send them to prison. It takes them out of society, and quite frankly society is better off without them.
perhaps it will make them feel what the girl they attacked felt
Ya know, I still remember an incident at my high school where about 8 kids from the “cool” group had a bit of a go taunting and trying to beat me up. My footy team at the time always referred to me as a bit of a “gentle giant” and I guess I kinda snapped and ended up kicking their asses… but it was still pretty traumatic for me and I remember breaking down a bit when I tried describing to the teachers what had happened - especially having 8 other people’s story all going against mine.At the time and for much of my early life I had no sympathy for bullies which is probably driven from this incident, yet as I’ve gotten older and those same kids who were pricks matured, I’ve calmed down a fair bit and I’ve also noticed that I can get along with some of those idiots now - at the very least exchange pleasantries.I guess out of all this I’ve learned a few things:Kids are idiots; I’m not sure jail would have been a good option for the kids who beat me up - and I think they got a bit of a shock when the teacher described them as bullies. The events of our childhood can either build us up as individuals or tear us down, and the psychological scars on the victim here have the potential to last decades.Basically, I’m feeling a lot of sympathy for the victim - but I guess I’m also hoping that somehow the girls and the 2 guys can somehow learn a damn good lesson here and redeem themselves - the first part would be to acknowledge guilt. But jail? They’re fricken 16 years old???? Although, I must say, 30 minutes of beating someone isn’t something which I’d call a random fight and when something gets viewed by state legislature it can become a very black and white world.
i saw one of the mothers of one of the girls interviewed; she kept saying how the girl they beat up had written nasty things about her daughter… but said nothing about the fact that her daughter beat the crap out of this girl.a few years in serious prison should scare the shit out of these morons. i don’t think they need years, but they are going to be tortured in prison. tortured. making what they did look like nothing.
Judge: Oh, she wrote nasty things, did she? Oh I’m sorry. You’re free to go and please, accept my apology.
dude these pictures of the girls are awesome. they don’t look so happy now. i bet they realize they have nothing to cheer about for a long time.http://www.wftv.com/2008/0411/15859756.jpg
That ’stache will come in handy when his 300LB. skinhead cell mate wants to use his face for fellatio.
