Zee TV decided to partner with Nu-Metro at Montecasino for the showing of the broadcast of the recent Zee Cine Awards on the big cinema screen to a select group of viewers, advertisers and guests.
The awards, which were held in London recently, was edited for a three-and- half hour broadcast across the globe.
Settling down in the comfortable seats of the Il Grande Cinema, it was as good as being at the actual awards watching the stars of Bollywood perform and receive their accolades.
Perhaps it was even better, because everything was close-up from the special cameras used at the show, and all the often irritating breaks during a live performance had been omitted.
Zee TV boss Deepak Jain told POST that the possibility of the Awards being brought to South Africa in the “not too distant future” was being considered.

Mika Salo’s first Le Mans in 2003 wasn’t a fond memory. The Audi R8 he was to drive ran out of fuel before he turned a lap. Photo: Regis Lefebure
Mika Salo has made more than 100 starts in Formula 1, owns 11 American Le Mans Series victories and won the 2007 Series GT2 championship with Jaime Melo. Eric van de Poele is one of sports car racing’s most famous names with numerous endurance victories and a stint in F1 as well. Even with all the accolades, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in which van de Poele owns four class wins, still maintains a certain aura for the two Risi Competizione pilots. They share their thoughts and memories of the world’s greatest motor race.
Mika Salo “There’s not much to remember really! I was happy to be joining Audi for Le Mans which they’d won many times and also to be in the same car with Frank Biela who’d won the race a couple of years in a row before. They had all this experience in the car and everything was fine. We qualified OK and the race started good and we were running third or something.
“I was waiting, supposed to get in the car second after Frank; the plan was that Frank did a double stint and then I’d get in the car and do a double. So Frank did his first stop fine, and was then supposed to come in for the next one and I was ready with the helmet on, waiting in the pitlane. All we heard on the radio was ‘Sheisse, I missed the pit entry,’ and we all knew it was all over now because he wasn’t going to make it all the way round the circuit again without fuel.
“He stopped on the track on the other side of the circuit, less than two hours into the race. He tried to get in the pits with the starter motor and managed to do about half a kilometer and then stopped. He just disappeared, never came back to the pits, and I think he jumped into his car and drove back to Germany. That was my first Le Mans. I was back in Finland that same night and couldn’t even watch the TV because I was so (hacked) off.”

Now they have conquered Europe, global domination should be Manchester United’s next aim.
For this reason they should now be following events across the Atlantic, because South America is likely to produce United’s strongest challengers for the World Club Cup trophy.
The Copa Libertadores, South America’s Champions League equivalent, has now reached the semi-final stage.
Of the two ties there is one that will clearly attract most attention, and especially from United’s point of view.
The first semi between America of Mexico and LDU of Quito is intriguing but America of Mexico will not be at the World Club Cup even if they win the Libertadores.
The Mexicans are guests in the competition, and one of the drawbacks of their status is that they cannot represent South America.
Their opponents, LDU of Quito are an interesting side, who attack with pace and width. But it would be a real upset if they were to go all the way and become the first Ecuadorian winners of the title.
Which leaves Fluminense against Boca Juniors, Brazil versus Argentina, as the tie which will raise pulses all over the continent.
Wednesday’s first leg is in Buenos Aires - though as a result of a linesman being hit by an ice-cube in their own famous stadium Boca are having to stage the match at the ground of Racing.
The second leg a week later will be in Rio’s Maracana stadium - a fitting scene for such an occasion. And it is a clash where Liverpool old boy Gabriel Paletta, now with Boca, could have a key role to play.
Reigning champions Boca have already seen off highly-rated Brazilian opposition in this campaign, winning home and away in the second round against a Cruzeiro side that had looked very impressive in the group phase.
The difference between Cruzeiro and Fluminense is that Boca’s latest rivals have a better balance between attack and defence.

I didn’t get of the Farecast predictions like I could before. I guess it’s still adjusting (though frequent past users might not be happy, and go to something new, now that it’s Windows Live).
They also need to give the Farecast panels, font, and all the other looks up-to-date with the latest Live Search UI. I actually like the Live Search UI, and Farecast really kinda clashes with it. A new UI refresh for Farecast shouldn’t be too hard, right? And less ads would be keen.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The grown-up rocker triumphed over the smooth-voiced kid as David Cook claimed the “American Idol” title Wednesday, and it wasn’t as much of a surprise as it seemed.
While the judges all but crowned 17-year-old David Archuleta the night before, the voters decided otherwise — and in a huge and unexpected way. Host Ryan Seacrest said before the results that that the margin was 12 million votes, and it turns out they broke in the favor of the 25-year-old from Blue Springs, Mo.
Cook was overcome with emotion, bending toward the stage after his name was announced. When he stood up, his eyes were filled with tears, the second time in as many nights that the scruffy, grainy-voiced belter had broken down.
“This is amazing,” he said. “This is all your fault,” he added, addressing his brother, Andrew. The story goes that Cook was only tagging along with his sibling to the “Idol” auditions to lend support, and wound up getting on the show.
To close out the show’s sevent season, Cook immediately took the microphone and began to sing “Time of my Life,” a midtempo rocker by Nashville singer/songwriter Regie Hamm, winner of the annual “Idol” songwriting competition.
Cook refused to bow to the conventional during his three-song set Tuesday, with Collective Soul’s “The World I Know” as his pick for a closing performance. He also sang U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and the power ballad “Dream Big,” his choice from the songwriting competition’s non-winning finalists.
“If I had to choose between playing a song that not a whole lot of people know that I could get behind, or the opposite, I’ll choose the lesser-known every time,” Cook told The Associated Press backstage Tuesday.

OrbLive is the streaming media application developed by Orb Networks for iPhone and iPod Touch. With this app, you can stream all your media, no need to sync. This app plays live TV, Internet TV, and webcams on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
“TV on the iPhone is now real,” said Joe Costello, CEO of Orb Networks. “Steve Jobs may think that buying shows from iTunes is the same as watching TV, but iPhone users know better. When the NBA playoffs are on, you want to see the game, live, wherever you are. Free.”
Orb pulls files off your Mac and streams them to any device with an app or web browser capable of accessing the Orb interface. From there you can stream music, video files, and if you have a TV tuner card, live TV. According to Orb Networks, all media streaming is optimized so it works great over WiFi, AT&T, O2, and Vodafone.
You must have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch to get OrbLive. If you are not sure how to jailbreak into your iPhone safely, follow this link to learn how you can do it risk free in 3 minutes or less.
“Although the iPhone provides users with a great way to experience the web, it offers a ridiculously sub-par streaming video experience. When all the carriers’ free phones can stream lots of things that my iPhone can’t, something’s seriously wrong. OrbLive finally brings the iPhone’s streaming video experience up to par with other mobile phones,” - said Costello.

“It was almost a spiritual experience for ancient people and everybody is still fascinated that same way,” Roper Mountain Science Center astronomer Doug Gegen said. “You look up and space and say ‘Boy, something neat is really going on.’ “
To celebrate the unusual phenomenon, Roper Mountain Science Center in Greenville held what it called an “Eclipse Extravaganza.”
Telescopes were available to watch the eclipse as clouds held off long enough for skywatchers to get a great view.
